1. Understanding Valorant's Sensitivity System

Valorant's sensitivity scale looks confusingly small because the game applies a 0.07 sensitivity multiplier — one of the lowest in any major FPS. CS2 uses 0.022. Apex Legends uses 0.022. This means a setting of 1.0 in Valorant spins your camera roughly 3.18× farther than a 1.0 in CS2.

"Just try different sensitivities" is not a process — it's how you stay stuck for months. Here is a structured method that produces a reliable answer.

Step 1 — Set 280 eDPI as your baseline

Set your mouse to 800 DPI and Valorant sensitivity to 0.35. (400 DPI users: set 0.70. 1600 DPI users: set 0.175.) Open the Range and spend 15 minutes clicking bots at varying distances. Do not judge yet — just get a feel for the speed.

Step 2 — The still-target test

In the Range, aim at a stationary bot from medium distance. Flick directly to three different bot heads in sequence. Consistently overshooting (landing past the target and correcting back) means sensitivity is too high. Consistently undershooting usually means crosshair placement needs work first — fix that before lowering sensitivity.

Step 3 — The tracking test

5. Sensitivity by Playstyle

Valorant's design rewards precision 1-taps and burst fire over spray, so the entire competitive range skews lower than most FPS games. Your role and playstyle push you toward different ends of the 200–320 eDPI band.

Operator shots are unforgiving — a tiny over-flick at the moment of fire means a miss. Lower sensitivity (combined with a fine-tuned ADS multiplier) gives you the precision needed for consistent one-shot hits. Many dedicated Operator players drop to 200 eDPI or below and compensate with wider arm movements.

6. ADS Sensitivity — What to Set and Why

Valorant has a dedicated ADS (Aim Down Sights) sensitivity multiplier separate from your hip-fire sensitivity. The default is 1.0, meaning your scoped sensitivity exactly matches your hip-fire sensitivity.

Recommendation: leave it at 1.0. When ADS speed matches hip-fire speed, your brain builds a single targeting motion for every engagement. Changing the multiplier introduces a second muscle memory that activates on right-click, which creates a split-second hesitation in fast duels.

The one exception

"TenZ uses 800 DPI, 0.408 sens" is only half the picture. What matters is his ~326 eDPI and the ~100 cm XL mousepad that makes it physically usable. If your pad is 30 cm wide, 326 eDPI means you can't do a full 180 without lifting the mouse. Match the eDPI and cm/360° to your pad size, not the raw settings number.

Changing sensitivity after every bad session

One 2/12 game is noise. Constant changes prevent muscle memory from forming at all — you'll always feel "off" because your nervous system never had time to consolidate the movement pattern. Set a sensitivity, commit to 5 hours minimum, then decide with data.

Leaving Windows mouse acceleration on

Windows "Enhance pointer precision" makes cursor speed vary with physical mouse speed. It directly destroys muscle memory.
